Day 1 Departure from any U.S/CANADA gateway to Guatemala City
Upon arrival, take free airport shuttle bus from airport to your hotel Las Americas (4star), rest of day is yours to relax.
Day 2 Antigua (Breakfast)
Today we will have a full day tour to Antigua.
Antigua is a small city surrounded by volcanoes that is located in southern Guatemala. It is known for its Spanish colonial buildings, many of which were renovated after the 1773 earthquake that ended the 200-year reign of Antigua as the colonial capital of Guatemala. Among the architectural monuments highlights the squat baroque church of La Merced. White and yellow, which is an integral part of the city’s famous Holy Week, during which parades and rituals are organized. Visit to La Merced church called Del Arco Main Squared Palace, cathedral, coca tour, jade factory and souvenir market.
Day 3. Chichicastenango (Breakfast)
Today, we will have a full day tour to Chichicastenango.
Picked up from hotel and transfer to Lake Atitlan, one of the most beautiful lake in the world. We will make a panoramic visit from EL Mirador, San Jorge. Atitlan is the ideal place to get in direct contact with Guatemalan folklore. Twelve indigenous peoples surround the lake. Its inhabitants are descendants of the QUICHES, Cackchiqueles and Tzutujiles. Continue to Chichicastenango, where you will enjoy a delicious lunch at Hotel Mayan Inn. After Lunch, we will visit the largest and most picturesque indigenous market held outdoors. Hundreds of indigenous people arrive from different surrounding villages to sell and exchange their products. You can also admire the religious ceremonies that take place inside and outside the Santo Tomas Church, which is over 400 years old (notes: shorts or swimsuits are NOT allowed, nor is it allowed to TAKE ANY CLASS OF PHOTOGRAPHS INSIDE THE CHURCH). In the afternoon, we will return back to Guatemala City.
Day 4 Guatemala City – El Salvador (Breakfast)
After breakfast, you are free to relax at your hotel in the morning. At 3:30pm, we will take the first class air-conditioned bus from Guatemala into EL Salvador. Snack on board.
Upon arrival, your local tour guide will meet you and transfer to Barcelo Hotel (5 star)
Day 5 El Salvador – Ataco (Breakfast)
Today, we will do a full day tour to Volcanoes national park, Izalco and visit local coffee farmland.
After breakfast, we will departure from our hotel at 8am, we will travel to east of the country to EL Cerro Verde National park, where we will have views of the pacific ocean and volcano complex, we will take a 45 minutes walk around the crater of the Cerro Verde with an evergreen tropical forest and learn of its history with its last eruption 25,000 years ago which makes it an inactive volcano, we will have views of the Izalco volcano called the Pacific lighthouse and the Ilamatepec volcano and a spectacular view of lake Coatepeque. We will continue to the coffee route on this excursion your will have the opportunity to visit with typical villages of EL Salvador.
Nahuizalco with its typical indigenous market; Salcoatitian, an artistic village with a relaxed atmosphere, we will also visit the coffee processing center. Stay overnight here at Ataco.
Day 6 Ataco – Copan, Honduras – Nicaragua (Breakfast)
We will departure at 5am this morning, and cross the boarder to Honduras and visit the most famous Copan Ruins.
Discover Copan, the most important Mayan city in Honduras, visit in one trip the archaeological sites declared World Heritage by UNESCO. Walk through temples, Palaces, squares and other structures in the Mayan center of Copan, it is a great trip for history and archeology lovers.
We will drive back to San Salvador international airport in the late afternoon and take evening flight to Nicaragua. Stay overnight at Plaza Colon Hotel
Day 7 Granada, Nicaragua (Breakfast)
After breakfast, we will go to visit Colonial Granada & famous Lake Nicaragua.
Discover the Spanish colonial city of Granada, the third oldest city in the Americas founded by Spanish captain Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524. Stopover at Dona Elba Cigars a small, family owned factory founded by the first cigar master in Granada Mr. Silvio Reyes since 1991. Explore the city; Colonial Churches and the famous La Calzada street. Enjoy free time at the Central Park. Ending our tour enjoying a boat trip throughout the lush and romantic islets of Lake Nicaragua.
Day 8 Nicaragua to Costa Rica (Breakfast)
After breakfast, we will take morning flight and heading to our next destination – Costa Rica.
Upon arrival, we will check in at our hotel Park Inn Hotel, and then start our join in San Jose join in tours.
This tour immerses you in the rich Costa Rican culture and history by visiting some museums and historical sites of San Jose city. During this journey, we will visit the national theater, also known as “the jewel of San Jose”, a masterpiece in art and architecture built by Costa Ricans and completed in 1897. Then we will visit the Museum of Gold (an archaeological interest site), after that, we go to the Central Market, place full of the Costa Rican cultural heritage and traditions, where you will be able to browse and buy some local art crafts.
We will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral. As we travel around the city, we will point you out several historically important or main buildings in our city, for example the Costa Rica university, The old Train station, The national liquor factory, The national Supreme Election Bureau, the Asamblea Legislativa (equivalent to The Congress), The Metallic Building, some parks and various sites of Interest. This will be an introduction to our Capital city, and information about our economy, cultural, politics, religion and general current events. Also, we will visit an Art Gallery, where you will be able to get some souvenirs to take back home. The tour takes about 5 hours, and then we will be back to our hotel.
Day 9. San Jose, Costa Rica (Breakfast)
It going to be a very busy day for us today, departure at 06:00am, we will do a Combo Doka State coffee tour, visit Poas Volcano National Park Poas, and Peace Waterfalls Gardens, the total tour hours is about 10 hours.
The total stay at the Poas Volcano national park will be about 40 minutes: 10 minutes walking on the trek to get to the crater viewpoint, and 10 minutes walking back. There is no access to Botos Lagoon and in case of fog, there is no extra waiting time as we used to do in the past. (Notes: due to the altitude and activity of the Poas volcano, this tour is not recommended to any person with heart conditions, high blood pressure, people who have had a recent surgery, pregnant women or children).
As we ascend the mountain, we will notice a change in temperature and vegetation; we will see coffee plantations as well as fern, flower and strawberry farms along the way, creating a beautiful array of colors and visuals.
We will visit the Doka Coffee Estate for a delicious breakfast. Then we will be treated to a coffee tour in an actual coffee plantation where we will learn the ancient techniques used by the experts to produce some of the best coffee in Costa Rica and around the world. The careful process involved in the cultivation, harvesting and roasting of the Golden bean and then will be illustrated, very hands-on, and then we will savor the delectable product.
After the coffee tour, we will continue to Poas Volcano National park, where there is a noticeable change in temperature and exuberant vegetation of the cloud forest.
The Poas volcano, is an active 2708 meter (8885ft) stratovolcano, the crater of the volcano is over a mile across and 1050 feet deep. It has erupted 40 times since 1828, including April, 2017.
At the Volcano, we will have time to enjoy the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, and hike on a trail to the beautiful Botos Lagoon as we learn about the different ecosystems in the park.
After Poas, we will continue to La Paz Waterfall Garden, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch (rated 4 Forks by the Costa Rican Tourism Council) that includes multiple selections of Traditional Costa Rican dishes and much more.
At La Paz Waterfall Gardens, we will go through walking trails surrounded by lush tropical rain forest. Here we will appreciate flowing white rivers, spectacular waterfalls, birds, butterflies, monkeys, and hummingbirds. There are also educational animal exhibits to enjoy such as the Aviary, the Butterfly Observatory, Hummingbird Garden, Serpentarium, Jungle Cats Exhibit, and the Frog Exhibit. This is definitely a tour enjoyed by nature lovers from all ages.
Day 10 Costa Rica – Home (Breakfast)
After Breakfast, private transfer to international airport and head back home or continue your trip to your next destination.
