A Muisca legend tells that an indigenous woman named Fura, due to the loss of her beloved Tena, shed so many tears that they watered the forests and penetrated the earth and that due to the love that they had they solidified and gave rise to beautiful green stones, which today are known as the best and most desired emeralds in the world. Colombian emerald is characterized by its resistance, brightness, and pure and dark tones
We start at the hotel with a subsequent transfer to the social project Escuela de Joyería del Caribe (Caribbean Jewelry School), where we will feel like we are back at school and learn, along with other local jewelry students, the different working techniques of the emerald. But in this school it is learning and doing, so let’s get to work! We will take the raw emeralds and 925 sterling silver and with the personal assistance of a jewelry student, we will bring 4 different pieces to life. We will get a symbolic certification as an emerald artisan. Once the workshop is over, we will move to the Caribbean Jewelry factory and museum, where we will learn more about the history of this beautiful stone, its extraction process and see how expert artists create in front of us pieces of the most exquisite taste.
This tour lasts around 4 hours
