Colombia’s pulsating capital is a nine-million-metropolis that stretches over 40 km from north to south and 20 km from east to west. Located centrally in the country and on 2650 meters above sea level, Bogotá indeed is the raised and rising economic and industrial powerhouse of the country. The national legislature, the Supreme Court of Justice, and the residence of the President of the Republic (Casa de Nariño) reside here, surrounding the grand Plaza de Bolivar in Bogota’s picturesque historic center. Here in “La Candelaria” colourfully painted colonial buildings house excellent museums and galleries, libraries and cafés, all set against the spectacular backdrop of the Andean mountains east of the city. The Monserate Church and the Virgin of Guadalupe reside up here on the mountain tops and watch over Bogota. They offer the best views across the maze of buildings, buses and barrios, showcasing the ecclectic mix of historic and modern and an increasingly cosmopolitan city.

Day 1 Home - Bogota

Take flight to Panama, upon arrival, transfer to hotel, stay overnight at Hotel Casa Deco.

Day 2 Bogota (B)

Colombia’s capital has been re-inventing itself for centuries. From its once colonial times to modern day Bogota, we will go on a journey through time on this guided visit. From the grand Plaza de Bolivar and the surrounding government buildings we continue to La Candelaria, Bogota’s colonial old town, and to Bogota's oldest church Iglesia de San Francisco. At the world famous gold museum we go back in time even more, admiring over 30.000 exhibits of pre-Columbian gold artifacts (closed on Mondays). The tour finishes with an exhilarating cable car ride to Monserrate Hill, which offers spectacular views of the nine-million-metropolis and the surrounding high plains.
Attention: On Sundays Monserrate is very busy and there might be long  queues. Alternatively, the guide will take you by private transport to the mountain Guadalupe, at 3.300 m or to the Calera, where you get to enjoy the view of Bogota.

Gold Museum Closes of Mondays (if that happens, we will visit the Botero museum instead)

Duration: 4 hours

Half Day Walking Tour Playing Tejo

Up for some authentic local fun and ready to get your hands dirty and indulge in some serious Colombian bar games? Then look no further! "Tejo" requires some ability and concentration - and some argue beer, too. It is a popular national pastime across Colombia and originally was a sport invented by the Chibcha people. Metal discs, "tejos", are thrown at the targets, which are small explosive charges of gunpowder wrapped in paper known as "mechas", embedded in sand. The goal is to hit these mechas with your tejo, so that they release a little explosion. Points to you, if they do! Our guide picks us up from our hotel for an afternoon of fun at one of Bogotá's rustic and entirely unadorned tejo venues - authentic to the core. Expect beer, noise, music, cheering and laughter. Duration: approximately 2-3 hours. Included: 2 beers per person (which at the same time is the entrance fee for playing tejo). Note: This tour operates just from hotels in La Candelaria.
