Day 1: Saturday: Arrival to Lima

Upon arriving in Lima, you will be picked up and taken to your hotel

(Shared service – Duration: 45 minutes approximately).

Our representative will give you a documentation kit with detailed program explanation. Luggage and hotel registration assistance will be offered.

Day 2: Sunday: Lima (B)

 09:00 HALF DAY CITY TOUR (COLONIAL AND MODERN LIMA)

(Shared service – group tour - Duration: 3 hours approximately).

Visit the modern and colonial parts of the city of Lima the "City of Kings", beginning in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. Pass by a Huaca or sacred pre-Inca site. There will then be a stop at Parque del Amor (Lovers Park) in Miraflores for its magnificent view over the Pacific Ocean. The tour also includes the Historic Centre based on the Main Square, where the Presidential Palace, the Archbishop´s Palace, the Municipality of Lima and the Cathedral are located, as well as a visit to one of the largest colonial-era convents.

Afternoon at leisure!

Day 3: Monday: Lima, Puerto Maldonado (B, L, D)

At the scheduled time, you will be transferred to the airport .

You will be picked up at the airport and taken to the to the office in Puerto Maldonado, where in addition to enjoying a first contact with nature, you will be asked to only take what is necessary to lighten the weight of the boats that will take you to Corto Maltes Amazonía Lodge. In this case, the security of your luggage is guaranteed in storage. Embark from Capitanía Port to the lodge, 40 minutes boat ride on the Madre de Dios River. Once at lodge Corto Maltes Amazonía you will be welcomed with a refreshing fruit juice. Your guide will give you the necessary information for your stay at the lodge and you will be given the keys of your bungalow. After lunch you will have some time to rest until the first excursion at 15:30. We’ll take a hike along the trail leaving from the lodge to the Castañero or Brazil nut camp, which will be your first real contact with the jungle. You will learn about tropical trees, medicinal plants and the exuberant nature of the 60-hectare preservation area that Corto Maltés Amazonía is in charge of. Visit the Brazil nut camp where the nuts are harvested. It is one of the most important economic activities in the region. Returning to the lodge you will have the opportunity to relax in the pool, hang in the hammocks on the porch of your bungalow, drink a cocktail in the exotic bar, get a massage by one of our qualified personnel, buy a gift at the artisanal shop or head down to the dock on the river to watch the sunset.

Before dinner you will take a float on a boat for a fun “Caiman Safari” where with luck you may see caimans and other nocturnal animals that live on the riverbanks. Close the day with a tasty dinner.

Day 4: Puerto Maldonado (B, L, D)

Before the sun comes up at 5:30 am, have a coffee or hot tea before departing to Lake Sandoval. Your guide will bring along a box breakfast for the ride. After a 20-minute boat ride on the Madre de Dios River you will arrive to the dock at Lake Sandoval. Hike about 3 km through the exuberant vegetation of the tropical forest up to the territory of the Tambopata National Reserve. Here you can admire the giant trees, snakes, monkeys (squirrel, howler and or capuchin) birds (hoatzin, kingfisher and anhinga). Once at Lake Sandoval you will take a ride in small rowboats looking for the river otters. You will have the opportunity to see a large variety of reptiles, mammals and birds in their natural habitat. When the guide finds the ideal spot, you will have breakfast. Head back to the dock. The next adventure will take you to Monkey Island (It is important to clarify that this activity is optional and will be carried out depending on the season and according to the guide's criteria, because flooding makes it practically impossible to enter and walk around the island. On the other hand, there are times of the season in which it is necessary to leave the monkeys without interruption of the visit of tourists to help in their reproduction and in their life in the wild). On Monkey Island around 5 species of monkeys live in the wild. These animals are already used to visits by tourists and can get close to people so you must always follow the instructions of the guide. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will climb to the observation towers with an height of 42 meters, designed for bird watching and enjoying the sunset. You will also visit a native Shiringuero camp, where you will see the traditional process of collecting the rubber (better known as latex) that’s used for countless products. Before dinner you will have free time to enjoy the pool or a massage, drink something refreshing in our bar or visit our boutique.

Day 5: Puerto Maldonado (B, L, D)

After breakfast, head 20 minutes down the river, where you will visit a farm of a local family. You will recognize and taste different tropical fruits and other products. It is a typical rural family in this area, who maintain very carefully and without chemicals some native plants that grow naturally and then take to the main market of Puerto Maldonado for consumption. Then visit the Machiguengauna family, one of the many ethnic groups that exist in the Peruvian Amazon. They will show part of the cultural value of their ancestors. Here you will enjoy a lunch with products from the jungle. Then you will have free time when you return to the lodge to visit the boutique, cool off in the pool, have a cocktail in the bar or have a relaxing massage. The day's activities will culminate with a tasty dinner.

Day 6: Puerto Maldonado -   Cusco (B)

Wake up early and have a coffee or tea before taking a 20 minute walk to the Parrot Collpa or Clay –Lick, where you will be able to see between 3 to 5 species of parrots that come down to eat from a special clay indispensable for their metabolism, in addition to an exciting color show. Come back to the lodge for breakfast and getting ready to head back to Port Capitanía where a car will be waiting for you to collect your additional luggage from the office. Then continue to the local market where you will have 15 to 20 minutes to explore and appreciate the different local products from which the population is supplied. After this visit you will continue on your way to the airport to check in to your respective flights.

Day 7: Sacred Valley (B, L)

08:00 FULL DAY AUTHENTIC SACRED VALLEY

(Shared service – group tour - Duration: 6 hours approximately).

You will tour the Sacred Valley of the Incas, discovering its fascinating culture, surrounded by majestic mountains. You will visit a small and picturesque Andean town, where you will explore an important Inca archaeological site and learn about the local history. Afterwards, you will pause at a local restaurant for a delicious lunch. Then, you will continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative architectural complexes of the Inca Empire and site of one of the Spanish Conquistadors' rare strategic defeats. Famous for its terraced fields, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress, that also served as a temple.

Day 8:  Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, Cusco (B, L)

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Leave your luggage at the storage of the hotel in the Sacred Valley, our representatives will take them to Cusco hotel. For your Machu Picchu day, just pack and small back which be allowed by the train:

FULL DAY MACHU PICCHU (SIB – shared service – group tout – Duration: 3 hours approximately)

You are going to visit one of the most important energy centers of the world: Machu Picchu. You will be driven to the archeological site, the visit of which will be an unforgettable experience, with a professional tour guide to impart to you all the history that surrounds this mysterious and enchanting place.

At the agreed upon hour, you will board the local bus to descend to Aguas Calientes.

Day 9: Cusco (B)

DAY AT LEISURE IN CUSCO

Enjoy a unique experience filled with beautiful scenery, spectacular views, small communities, and opportunities to observe local wildlife. The Adventure awaits you! Don’t miss  the optional Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain or Maras and Moray.

FULL DAY VINICUNCA RAINBOW MOUNTAIN (SIB) – (USD $66/PERSON)

You will leave your hotel in Cusco early in the morning, crossing the South Valley, towards Cusipata. From there, you will be transferred to Phulawasipata where you will begin your walk. After some time to prepare, you will start with the ascending route to Vinicunca, the Rainbow Mountain. The place will amaze you with its vivid colors and natural beauty. There, you will have time to take photos and fill yourself with the energy of the place. At the end of this visit, you will walk back to the starting point. Finally, you will be taken back to your hotel in Cusco.

FD MARAS MORAY WITH LUNCH (SIB) – (USD$115/PERSON)

Located Northwest of Cusco, we will visit the huge circular and semicircular agricultural terraces near Moray, built inside natural holes on a limestone plateau facing Urubamba Valley, and used as a botanical lab by the Incas. A cosmopolitan meaning has been suggested, but its function, besides de agricultural one, remains a mystery. Nearby, after that you will enjoy a panoramic view of Maras, where we find the salt mines on old terraces and lagoons. Lunch included.

Day 10: Cusco, Puno (B)

06:30 At the scheduled time, you will be transferred to the bus station.

07:30 TOURIST BUS FROM CUSCO TO PUNO (shared service – group tour – lunch included – tourist visits included)

You will leave the station to start the bus trip to Puno, enjoying the wonderful landscapes of the Southern Valley of Cusco on the way. First you will visit Andahuaylillas, where you will find the church of San Pedro, a beautiful 17th-century building that has an impressive organ, decorated with angels and cherubs. Then, you will visit the Raqchi ruins -also known as The Temple of God Wiracocha- which have different areas that were used for various purposes. At the end of this visit, you will enjoy a delicious and typical lunch at a local restaurant. Then, you will head to La Raya, the highest point between Cusco and Andahuaylillas, where you will make a short stop to appreciate the landscape. Afterwards, you will go to Pucará, where you will visit the town and the museum of this Inca military construction, which also functioned as an administrative center. Finally, you will arrive at the bus station in Puno

17:30 Arrival in Puno, meet and transfer to the hotel (shared service).

Day 11: Puno (B, L)

07:00FULL DAY TITCACA LAKE: TAQUILE & UROS ISLAND (shared service – group tour – lunch included – Duration : 7 hours approximately)

In the morning, we will make a one-day tour to Lake Titicaca and, as first stop, we will visit the floating islands of the Uros, also known as People of the Lake. These islands are built out of layers of totora and are used as housing and trade centers for the native Uros. They travel on handicrafted rafts. We will go on with our tour to Taquile Island, where the community greets tourists very kindly, and keep their old style traditions, customs and colorful clothings. The islanders are skilled craftspeople and express in each piece astonishing techiniques developed by their ancestors for centuries. Lunch is included.

Day 12: Puno - Lima (B)

At proper time you will be transferred to Juliaca airport (shared service – Duration: 1 hour approximately).

Arrival in Lima, meet and transfer to the hotel (shared service – Duration: 45 minutes approximately).
